Worship

The Worship Team

The worship team lead worship once a month. The purpose of this is to give them opportunity to explore a topic in depth themselves before presenting it to the school. The children have shown themselves to be very capable of deep insight and thinking when preparing for services. They show that they understand how prayer is sharing your heart with God’s and vice versa. They are therefore well equipped to move into this deeper level of understanding which has a huge impact on whole school worship. They  take the school into a deeper experience of meeting God through worship because they will already have engaged deeply with God themselves.

The Worship Council

The worship council is elected with 2 children from each year group. Children  apply for a position on the worship council and, after election, they were welcomed to their post during an act of worship led by Bishop Stephen (Chelmsford Diocese) . St Mary’s church provided a post service tea. The worship council influence how we move forward as a worshiping community through reflection, discussion and decision making. They meet weekly to reflect on whole school and class worship.

The Prayer Tree
Picture
The prayer tree has a prominent position in the front hallway. It is a simple but highly effective space which children are allowed to use to pray quietly themselves or to write their prayer to put on the prayer tree. There are holding crosses and pictures to provide inspiration and a focus.
During the Bishop of Chelmsford's visit he spoke with the children about praying in different ways which is seen throughout whole school and individual prayer.

Taking Worship Outside

Feedback from the pupils has led us to look at how we can develop Worship in our outside areas. We are currently in talks with local gardening companies to create a living Willow church within our Eco garden for all to use. Come back soon for further developments!
