Our Curriculum at Heathlands

 

The majority of Foundation Subjects are taught through termly “themes” driven by Big Questions established from our school vision.  Our “themes” focus on developing skills in all the National Curriculum subjects and are tailored to what objectives best fit that theme.

 

Pupils' learning is supported and enriched by school trips, visitors, practical work, the making of books and files and showcasing their learning in termly events with the local and global community. Through this work, the children learn to think critically, research carefully, and discuss and solve problems. Children are also expected to plan their approach to this work and are encouraged to work in groups, be part of a team, or work individually as is appropriate.
