Kenya Connection
The partnership between Heathlands and Kathari Primary school started in 2010. It was supported and paid for by the British Council under its Connecting Classroom agreement, with money given to pay for reciprocal teacher visits, yearly. Since then the partnership has developed into a very strong working link between both schools, with teachers from Kathari and Heathlands exchanging visits.
The strength of the partnership is in the children learning first hand, through the visits, about a culture which is completely different from their own. We embed knowledge of Kenyan culture in our school through singing, literacy, worship and in curriculum work.
