Welcome back everyone – Christmas already feels like an age ago, but I hope you all enjoyed a restful and happy break with family and friends. I would also like to wish you all a very Happy New Year.

This half term is always a busy one, and it has been wonderful to see how quickly the children have settled back into school routines. Classrooms are calm, purposeful and full of learning, and staff have commented on how positively the children have returned.

I have been particularly proud to see our pupils continuing to live out our Core Values each day. Across the school, children are showing kindness towards one another, approaching their learning with courage, treating others with respect, building trust and, importantly, remembering to enjoy their learning. These values are at the heart of everything we do at Heathlands and it is a pleasure to see them reflected so clearly in daily school life.

As the term continues, there is plenty to look forward to, with exciting learning planned across all year groups and opportunities for children to shine both in and beyond the classroom. Thank you, as always, for your continued support – it makes a real difference. Please have a look at our school calendar (below) for upcoming events.

I look forward to sharing more highlights with you as the term progresses.

Evelyn is Headteacher!

Wednesday 21st January 2026

Evelyn won a golden Wonka bar ticket and will be taking over as Headteacher of Heathlands for the day!

To celebrate, she has decided there will be a non-uniform day (no donation needed), and we will also be sharing a special themed lunch menu with you next week.

Evelyn will be involved in key parts of the day, including meeting pupils and parents, visiting classrooms and helping to make some fun decisions for the school — so keep an eye out for photos and updates!

Facebook Page

We’re pleased to share that Heathlands Primary School now has an official Facebook page. This will be another way for us to celebrate school life, share key updates, and showcase the fantastic learning, events and achievements happening across our community.

We’d love you to follow us, like our posts, and help spread the word to other families and members of our local community.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support – we look forward to sharing more of Heathlands with you online

Innovation Centre

We are excited to share an update on our Innovation Centre. Thanks to a generous grant work is now underway to create a flexible, welcoming space that encourages creativity, collaboration and innovation for both pupils and staff.

Our new flexi-working space is beginning to take shape, with furniture currently being installed by Mr O’Nions – thank you for your time and expertise in helping bring this vision to life. We are also very grateful to The Barn Garden Centre for their kind donation of plants, which are already helping to make the space feel welcoming and inspiring.

Medication in School

As per our First Aid policy, if your child has been prescribed medication three times per day, then this will not need to be actioned in school. We will of course give your child medication if prescribed over three times per day. If there are any queries please contact Mrs Chipperfield.

We are delighted to share that three Heathlands pupils are appearing in the upcoming village pantomime Babes in the Wood, performed by The Orpen Players. Ellie (Year 5), along with Joshua and Anastasia (both Year 6), have been busy rehearsing and representing our school in this much-loved local production. It is always wonderful to see our pupils taking part in community events and showing confidence, creativity and teamwork beyond the classroom.

If you would like to support the cast and enjoy a fun family outing, tickets can be booked via:
