It has been a slightly quieter couple of weeks in school, but behind the scenes there has been a great deal of preparation for what promises to be an exciting and busy half term ahead.

We are particularly looking forward to our upcoming Arts and Culture Week, which this year has the theme of architecture. My thanks go to Mrs Lawrence and Mr Nakum, who have been working hard to plan what will be a rich and engaging week of learning for all children.

This term also brings a number of statutory assessments, including the Year 6 SATs (week beginning 11th May), the Year 4 Multiplication Check, and the Year 1 and 2 Phonics Screening Checks. We place great importance on ensuring that children feel confident and well-prepared, while also keeping the experience as low-pressure as possible so that they can simply do their best.

We are pleased to be welcoming parents into school for our Open Classrooms on Friday 22nd May. This is always a lovely opportunity to spend time in your child’s classroom, look through their work, and celebrate the progress they have made. This coincides with the end of our Art and Culture week, so the week work created will also be displayed in classrooms.

The News and Calendar sections of the newsletter include a range of useful information about upcoming events. One highlight is our ‘Parent Workshops’ afternoon – a series of sessions led by our staff. You can sign up by clicking the link within the article.

Finally, please note that the school calendar has been updated, so do take a moment to check for key dates coming up.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Allergy Awareness

From September, schools will be required to follow updated statutory guidance, often referred to as Benedict’s Law, which strengthens how we respond to children experiencing an anaphylactic episode.

As part of this, all staff are receiving updated training in allergen awareness, and the school will hold emergency adrenaline auto-injectors for use when needed.

We remain a nut-aware school. While we take every possible precaution, we cannot guarantee that nut-based products will never enter the school site. For this reason, it is essential that no food items containing nuts, or labelled as “may contain nuts,” are brought into school.

Attendance

If your child is unwell and not going to be at school, please can you telephone the school office and leave a message with details of the child's name, class and reason for absence. Please can this be called through by 9am.

Summer Menu

Our Summer menu is on the school website. The menus operate on a three-week rotation bursting with nutrients and offering various choices.

Contact information

If you have recently changed your address, contact details or want to add collection details, please can you advise the school office. Thank you.
