Happy Friday!
As we approach the final stretch of the school year, there’s a real sense of excitement and anticipation around Heathlands. Over the past fortnight, we’ve had two very successful transition mornings where children spent time with their new class teachers for next year. These sessions are so important in helping our pupils feel confident and prepared for the year ahead, and it was lovely to see so many smiling faces and positive interactions taking place across the school.
We’ve also had the pleasure of welcoming our new Reception starters for a few taster sessions before starting with us in September. It’s always a joy to meet the newest members of the Heathlands community, and we’re already looking forward to seeing them flourish with us.
A special thank you and well done to all the children who took part in last week’s Garrison Athletics event. They represented Heathlands brilliantly and were a real credit to the school. A huge thank you as well to Mr Minter and Mr Hassard for their hard work in organising this event once again.
Last Friday’s Key Stage 2 PE showcase was another wonderful celebration of the children’s talent and enthusiasm. Thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to support—it was another great moment in the Heathlands calendar.
Finally, a huge well done to our Heathlands’ Got Talent winners—Olive Class band for Key Stage 1 and Samuel H for Key Stage 2. What an incredible display of creativity and confidence! Thank you to Mrs Patterson for organising another brilliant event—we’re already looking ahead to how we can make next year’s showcase even more exciting.
Today you will receive you will have received your child's end of year report. As with anything new on this scale, we anticipated a few teething issues. Fortunately, we had very few, but where we did I would like to thank you for your patience. In the covering letter I outlined the changes we have made to the reports. Going forward, we will be reporting on attainment in all subjects, and you will receive additional Report Cards at the end of the Autumn and Spring Term. In the parent survey when I joined, you asked to be kept more regularly informed of how your child is doing in school and I hope this will be a positive move to allow for this.
I wish you all a restful weekend and look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday for our final seven days of the school year.
