Good afternoon,

It's been an incredibly busy few weeks for all at Heathlands, with so much going on again.

Thank you to everyone who supported our Sports Day this week. It was a brilliant day, and it was great to see all the children demonstrate our Core Values. and attempt all the activities with such a positive attitude. There is a short article below with all the many thanks that are due for bringing a day like this together.

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to Class Dojo - the feedback so far has been positive. I'd just like to remind all that we are slowly introducing it this half-term, and we are working out which features work best for the school - but we will continue to post updates and reminders there for you all on there.

This week has marked my 100th day as Headteacher at Heathlands, and I've taken time to reflect on the massive amount of progress that the school has made this year. From new communication systems to new strategies for teaching maths. From the opening of our Oak Provision to a (soon to be started) new hall roof. These are just a few examples from the many projects (large and small) that have been undertaken this year. So much is already under way, but all at Heathlands are keen to continue improving our fantastic school, and I'm excited for the next 100 days.

SPONSORSHIP

I am keen to revamp our school entrance and main corridor - making it more welcoming and purposeful. I am in the process of reaching out to a few companies/organisations with regard to sponsoring either/both of those spaces.

I would like to redecorate and refit the corridor with more purposeful furniture, and make it a more interesting and used space.

If you know of any companies who would be willing to support - be it through sponsorship or making connections - and who would like more information, then please ask them to contact me via the school office.

HALL ROOF UPDATE

Plans are well under way for the hall roof to be replaced.

Most of the work will take place over the summer holidays, but it's probable that the work will continue into September. However, we are working with the companies involved to minimise the disruption as much as possible.

This will be a big project, but one that is important for the school.

COLCHESTER ROYAL GRAMMAR SCHOOL

CRGS are holding their annual 11+ open evening next week, on Tuesday 24th June.

11+ 2026 Entry Registration

Entry will commence on Tuesday 13th May 2025 and close on Friday 27th June 2025. The 11+ will be on Saturday 20th September 2025.

UNIFORM

Just to clarify a few things

Create Identitee had printed a few t-shirts with red writing rather than yellow. Going forward, all t-shirts will have Heathlands written in yellow. Please do not worry if you have a red t-shirt (like me) as it can be seen as a special, limited-edition run!

PE t-shirts would ideally be a sports polo from Create Identitee. However, we understand the cost implications and therefore are happy if the t-shirt is a plain red polo. For more information about uniform please visit the Uniform page of our website.
