This edition of our newsletter focuses solely on an issue that has been raised with me by parents, staff, children, and local residents — and one I feel we must address together as a community.
Parking around the village, and particularly on New Church Road, has become an increasing concern. We have seen cars parking across residents' driveways and on the yellow Keep Clear zig-zag lines — before and after school, and during Hopscotch drop-off and collection. There have been a number of near misses, and the situation is becoming genuinely dangerous.
I want to ask all parents and carers to please park considerately and to ensure you are never stopping on the Keep Clear markings — these exist to protect our children.
This applies equally during Hopscotch hours; staff are currently unable to pull out of the school safely because parked cars are blocking their sightlines entirely.
Please do share this message with anyone who collects on your behalf.
I want to be transparent: the police have been made aware of the situation and will be monitoring the area. My hope is that we resolve this together, as a community, before it reaches a point where someone is seriously hurt.
Thank you for your understanding and support, and for taking the time to read this. Our next newsletter will be a positive news only edition!
