What a wonderful half-term it has been — and what a fortnight to finish on!

A massive well done to our Year 6 pupils, who completed their SATs last week. They demonstrated our Core Values brilliantly, tackling every paper with focus and determination, and we could not be more proud of them. I also want to take this opportunity to give special thanks to our Year 6 staff, who have worked tirelessly in preparing the children for these important assessments. Your hard work has made a real difference, and it is appreciated by pupils and the whole school community alike. That preparation gave our children the confidence to relax and give their very best, and it showed. Thanks also to our catering team for the SATs breakfast, and to the LSAs from across school who gave up their time to support with invigilation. The communal breakfast has become a wonderful SATs week tradition, and long may it continue!

This week has been Arts and Culture Week in school, with the theme of 'Architecture', and there has been a fantastic buzz around the building! Today we held our World Tour in the school hall, and a huge thank you to everyone who submitted an entry to our postcard challenge. It has been wonderful to watch the display grow across the week, and the imagination, perseverance and creativity on show has been truly impressive. You will be able to see all the work this afternoon at our Open Classroom event. A big thank you to the Arts team for organising and leading such a memorable week.

On a sad note, we say farewell to two members of our team: Mrs Sutton, who will be leaving us at the end of the school year, and Mrs Skinner, who will be moving on after half-term. Both have been at Heathlands for a long time and leave behind a wonderful legacy. Everyone at Heathlands wishes them and their families all the very best for the future.

As we head into half-term, I want to thank every member of our school community for their hard work and commitment again this term. I hope you all enjoy a restful break, and the sunshine that hopefully comes with it! I look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday 2nd June.

Wear Yellow Day – Friday 12th June

On Friday 12th June, Heathlands will once again be supporting Wear Yellow Day, raising vital funds and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. This cause is particularly meaningful to us as a school community this year, and we are delighted to get behind it in style.

This year's fundraising has a fun twist — and I'm afraid I'm the one who will be suffering for it! Across the week of 8th–12th June, children will have the opportunity to pay £1 to vote for a makeover for me. The options are... varied. From a yellow wig and a tutu, to roller skates instead of shoes and a shaved-in moustache — every £1 counts as one vote, and children can vote as many times as they like throughout the week! Whatever raises the most will decide my fate on Wear Yellow Day itself.

There are also some fantastic fundraising milestones to look forward to: raise £250 and the whole school gets a lunchtime conga; hit £500 and we unlock extra playtime; reach £750 and I'll be taking an ice bucket on Sports Day; and if we hit £1,000, an ice cream van will visit after school!

You can donate and participate via the QR code or link on the poster below. All proceeds go to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust — a cause that means a great deal to us.

Let's make it a memorable one. (For better or worse.)
