FRIDAY 12TH MAY - CPSL GIRLS FOOTBALL MATCH VS MONTGOMERY

Heathlands 7 - 0 Montgomery
Match report to follow.

THURSDAY 11TH MAY - CPSL FOOTBALL MATCH VS ST JAMES

Heathlands 5 - 0 St James

On Thursday 11th May a team of seven year fives and one year four played against St James’ school.
It started off quite tight then Elijah scored the first goal to break the stalemate closely followed by a second.  We were immensely energised from this 2-0 lead whereas St James’s heads went down although they kept on pressing.
The second half saw a quick goal by Keaton to extend the score to 3-0.  Lewis our keeper had done some spectacular saves, unfortunately one caused him to reopen an existing wound.  Mr Minter rushed onto the pitch with the first aid kit and patched the wounded keeper up, Lewis said he was fine to carry on.
The fourth Heathlands goal was the result of an accidental own goal by the St James’ defender with our attack pressing and he got worried.
The fifth and final goal for Heathlands was a cross from the left sweetly finished with a half volley from Keaton.
It was a fun and enjoyable match.  Thank you to Mr Minter for organising it and to the parents for taking us there.

SATURDAY 1ST APRIL - DISTRICT GIRLS FOOTBALL CUP

Heathlands finish 5th!

On Saturday 1st April we travelled to Barking to represent Colchester and Blackwater in the district cup. Missing two of our experienced players we knew we faced a challenging competition but we were determined to do our best.
In the first game we closed down quickly and pressed for the ball. Despite our efforts Faiza was really busy in goal and produced three finger tip saves. Eventually though one shot did sneak in via a rebound.
More tricky games followed and we needed to change goalie as the saves had taken their toll on Faiza's fingers. Newly organised we approached our final three games with determination which payed off with three goals giving us a win and a draw.
We gained valuable experience and had lots of fun coming fifth overall.

Heathlands 2 - 2 Kelvedon

On 23rd March the girls football team went up against Kelvedon. The score at the end of the game was 2-2 with goals from Ruby G and a very skillful goal from Lucy. Overall the game couldn't have been more even as the half time score was 1-1. At the end of the game we were in shock as Lucy scored our second to make it 2-2 at the end of the game with only minutes to go. Again, we showed fantastic sportsmanship and the team played exceptionally well. Mr Turver (our manager) was very proud of us.

On Thursday we attended the Year 3 and 4 girls football festival at Shrub End. For many of us it was our first tournament and it started at a frantic pace.
We had two teams, one in each league. Both teams worked well together, showing good passing, dribbling and shooting skills.

Team 1 - The Tiny Terrors secured two hard fought draws in their league and gained lots of valuable experience.

Team 2 - The mighty mini's breezed through their league without losing a single game. Overall they came second in a closely competed final.

FRIDAY MARCH 10TH - CPSL FOOTBALL MATCH AGAINST BRINKLEY GROVE

Heathlands 2 - 3 Brinkley Grove

On Friday 10th March, Heathlands football team played against Brinkley Grove. It was a really tough match but I feel we deserved to win. We didn't have the best start as we were 1-0 down in the first half but we soon made up for that by equalising and then going a goal ahead. It was all going well but Brinkley then scored to make it level again. Both teams were going for the win in the closing minutes when Brinkely caught us on the counter attack from a corner. Lots of us tracked back quickly but their winger crossed it into an unmarked player and he scored. We had lost an amazing match but were proud of how we played.

FRIDAY 27TH JANUARY - GIRLS FOOTBALL FRIENDLY AWAY AGAINST ST JOHNS

Heathlands 7 - 0 St Johns

On Friday 27th January, the girls football team played against St Johns Primary School. It was a very wet and muddy day but all of the girls were keen to do their best. It was an especially good game for me as I scored my first goal. I kicked the ball hard from the edge of the box and it flew onto the side of the post and into the goal. The goal shook while I ran back into position with a big smile on my face. At first I didn't know that the ball had gone in because there was so many people in the way but the Heathlands players and supporters were cheering so loudly that I knew I must have scored. We won the game 7-0 which was a relief.

THURSDAY 26TH JANUARY - CPSL FOOTBALL MATCH AT HOME AGAINST KELVEDON

Heathlands 0 - 2 Kelvedon

On Thursday 26th January, Heathlands played a football match against Kelvedon. It was a close match and we were unlucky to be 2-0 down at half time. We very nearly made it 2-1 as the ball hit one of our players on the knee before going into the side netting. In the end we lost 2-0 despite a good performance.

THURSDAY 1ST DECEMBER - CPSL GIRLS FOOTBALL MATCH AWAY AGAINST FRIARS GROVE

Heathlands 7 - 0 Friars Grove

Today we played Friars Grove, our first away match, so we had to work hard and play our best to try and win. At first we played amazingly, scoring our first goal very quickly. As the minutes went by we were able to put the ball in the back of the net again. Just before half time, Ruby A scored a cracking penalty and followed that with a crazy celebration running up and down the pitch with her arms out. The half time whistle went and we were winning 4-0.
As the second half started Friars Grove continued to work hard and came very close to scoring, Faiza was just about able to catch the ball. Then, bam! More goals in the back of the net for us. Ouch, Ruby was hit in the stomach by the ball and had to be taken off the pitch winded. The full time whistle went with us celebrating a 7-0 win. Well done Friars Grove.

MONDAY 21ST NOVEMBER - CPSL FOOTBALL MATCH AWAY AGAINST PRETTYGATE

Heathlands 0 - 1 Prettygate

On Monday 21st November, Heathlands played a football match against Prettygate. The match started well for Heathlands, we were getting the ball through to Keaton who had a few chances but the Prettygate defence and goalkeeper dealt with it well. Although we had lots of chances so did they, the score at half time was 0-0. This stayed the score until an exciting end to the second half. Heathlands won a penalty but unfortunately the goalkeeper saved it. Prettygate went on the counter attack after and scored, winning the game in doing so. Although we lost we were pleased with the way we played.

THURSDAY 17TH NOVEMBER 2016 - CPSL FOOTBALL MATCH VS NORTH

Heathlands 9 - 1 North

On Thursday 17th November, we played a match against North. We passed the ball well and around North's players to get in the final third and then scored a few goals. Most of our goals came from high pressing in their half. We tried to play out from the back when we had a goal kick but if we needed to we would play it long down the wings. When we had a centre we tried to play forward in their half towards the goal so we could attack. If we had a corner we would float it into the box for someone to attack it. We kept the ball well until we saw a chance to break and score. Overall we had a good match and won 9-1.
By Elijah.

MONDAY 14TH NOVEMBER 2016 - CPSL NETBALL MATCH VS NORTH

FRIDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2016 - CPSL GIRLS FOOTBALL MATCH VS MILLFIELDS

Heathlands 8 - 0 Millfields

Today was the day of my first league football match. We played against Millfields who looked very organised. The game started at a furious speed but it was Lucy who was the first person to score for Heathlands. We were passing to each other as a team and we quickly got into our stride. Although Millfield's defending was great we still managed to get through and score more goals, winning the game 8-0. It was a great start to the season.

MONDAY 7TH NOVEMBER 2016 - CBSSP GIRLS FOOTBALL COMPETITION

Heathlands win and finish 6th at CBSSP girls football competition!

On Monday 7th November two of our teams represented the school at the CBSSP Girls Football tournament at Shrub End. Both teams competed keenly and demonstrated fantastic footballing skills throughout the morning.
Team: Stripes
This was our first competitive fixture as a team and for some of us it was the first time we had played in a match. Unfortunately we met very strong opposition in our first match but we quickly learnt how to play as a team and our defending improved. We won our next two games by working together well and playing as a team. By the end of the morning we had scored enough points to finish third in our side of the tournament and that meant we made it into the play-off rounds. Not bad for our first competition!
Team: Reds
We couldn’t wait to get started and play our first game. We felt we knew each other really well after last year’s league games and wanted to try our new skills competitively. The first five games flew by without us conceding any goals and winning all of our matches. In the final we met a well organised Kelvedon team. We worked really well as a team and had some good chances but their defending was equally as good and the game went to penalties. After a quick chat with Mr Turver we knew our tactics and it came down to the last two penalties. After saving Kelvedon’s last penalty, Kitty was given the task to score and she did. We won the tournament and now progress onto the next round on Thursday 24th November, so watch this space!

It was a great win for Heathlands but well done Gosbecks who played very well.

All of the children taking part had a great time playing competitive football for the school.

On Monday 17th October, we played a home game against Friars Grove. The final score was 3-0 to Heathlands with goals from Oscar, Antonio and an own goal. We played well but Friars Grove also had their chances, we were lucky that Joshua is an amazing goalkeeper.
