Find out what our Eco-Council have been up to

    New Bikes

We are delighted to share some exciting news! Last year, we applied for an Essex Travel Grant and are thrilled to have been successful. Thanks to this funding, we have been able to purchase five children’s bikes, two adult bikes, two bike sheds, seven helmets and a pump.

A very special thank you goes to Mr O’Nions, who has generously given his time and expertise to build the bikes and sheds and support this project.

These new resources will help us support children who need a bike for Bikeability, as well as enable us to run a school bike club with some of our older pupils on the Poors Field. This is a fantastic opportunity that will not only promote physical activity but also help our children develop confidence and independence when cycling. We'd love to see more children, particularly in years 5 and 6 who have completed Bikeability, cycling to school each day. Cycling to school is a great way for children to stay active, improve their wellbeing and arrive ready to learn. It also helps reduce traffic and pollution, supporting a healthier environment for everyone.

We are incredibly proud of this achievement and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have across our school community.

    Bees

Over the past three sessions, our Eco Council have also been learning about the importance of bees and the vital role they play in our environment. The children enjoyed creating their own bee-themed crafts, making seed bombs to plant wildflowers at home to help attract bees, and designing informative posters to raise awareness. Through these activities, they have been encouraging others to help make our school and gardens more bee-friendly.
