    Welcome to Heathlands’ Authors — our home for celebrating children’s writing and sharing the brilliant work being created across the school.

    Each month, we invite pupils to take part in a range of writing competitions and creative challenges designed to spark imagination, build confidence, and develop a real love of writing. Whether your child enjoys crafting stories, performing poems, inventing characters or exploring non-fiction, there’s something here to inspire every young author.

    This page is updated monthly, so please do check back regularly for the latest competitions, submission deadlines, and showcases of standout writing from across Heathlands. We can’t wait to see what our authors create next!

    Who Can Enter: Children aged 7-18 years old

    Categories:

    • Ages 7-10
    • Ages 11-13
    • Ages 14-18

    Word Count: 100-500 words, based on one of the Scribblebibble writing prompts, which can be viewed here.

    Submission Period: Annually: July 1st – January 31st. If you have missed the submission period, why not have a look at our other writing resources and competitions?

    How to Enter: Email a link to the student’s work posted on an adult’s social media to competition@scribblebibble.com.

    Prizes: A $20 or £20 or €20 online voucher for each age group winner. (Other currencies may or may not be available).

    Judging Criteria: Originality, imagination, language, and adherence to the prompt.

    Stepping Into Stories

    All you have to do is create a story with the theme of 'HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS'.
    You can make your story in any way you choose - drawing, writing, comic strip, drama, poetry, rap, digital animation - just as long as it fits on a single page of paper, or if it’s a film or recording, make sure it’s no longer than two minutes.

    There are three age categories:
    4 - 7 years
    8 - 11 years
    12 + years

    The deadline for submitting stories is Saturday 24th January 2026
    Winners will be announced and prizes presented on Saturday 7th February 2026 in Station Hall, Herne Hill.
