Theological Underpinning

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Shine your light before all men that they may see your works and then praise your Father in heaven”. Matthew 5 v14-16

Our core Christian values are at the heart of everything we do in school. Staff, children and families are expected to follow our values at all times and all decisions made by senior leaders are underpinned by them.

This term, our Worship Council discussed Bible verses which they felt best showed our core values and then voted on their favourite verse for each value to share on our website. This was also a good opportunity to discuss the British Value of democracy. The verses they chose below were shared at Acts of Worship to help children understand more about each value:

Trust

Proverbs 3:5-6

'Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.'

Respect

Peter 1:2

'Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers.'

Enjoyment

Ecclesiastes 3:13

'And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.'

Courage

Deuteronomy 31:6
'Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.'
